Just like the refrigerator replaced the ice box after 1900, new appliance innovations are making previous innovations obsolete. Below are Main Line Kitchen Design’s list of some of the hottest new appliances. Many of these appliances are a little on the expensive side now, but often appliance prices drop as the technology improves or the original patent expires.

GE Appliances New Kitchen Hub – Microwavehood with smart display
The 27-inch over the range smart display GE Appliances released last year is getting a second generation with a microwave and new smart home features.
The Kitchen Hub had nearly everything a home chef could want, including cameras to view, record and share your cooktop, recipe apps and all the functionality of an Android tablet. But it was missing the one thing many people expect above their ranges — a microwave.
This year, GE Appliances is adding that microwave functionality with the Next Gen Kitchen Hub. This new Kitchen Hub gains a 1.9 cubic foot microwave. You still get all the Android tablet features like streaming Netflix and Spotify from the display or video chatting with friends and family.

Hello: Has anyone had experience with Kobe Brillia range hood inserts? They are relatively inexpensive compared to some but seem to get good reviews and have won at least one design award. Thank you

I’ve never heard of them. I looked at the Yale appliance website and they don’t review them. Yale is the most reliable appliance review site. When homeowners review an appliance, it only means they were happy initially with their purchase. It doesn’t mean the appliance lasts or functions well. Having won many awards ourselves I know that winning awards isn’t that meaningful. By the way – you need a replacement air system for all blowers over 400 CFM’s and I don’t know how the Kobe blower works with any system. Not getting replacement air is against code and endangers your family.
